Cyprus .... a
jewel in the Mediteranean
At the North-eastern end of the Mediterranean lies Cyprus, the island of Aphrodite, Greek Goddess of Love, and the area's third largest island. It is blessed with natural beauty that ranges from golden beaches and rugged coastlines to rolling hills and forest clad mountains, and is dotted with picturesque villages each with its own tradition and charm.
Cyprus is famous for its mild winters, hot summers and cloudless sky. Summer brings endless sunshine and the warm inviting turquoise blue sea which lasts well into autumn, when days are still long and warm enough to enjoy swimming and provide the perfect conditions for sailing, skiing and numerous other water sports. A complete contrast awaits in the cool, pine covered Troodos Mountains, with delightful hill resorts and traditional hotels. Nature lovers can take walks to the Troodos mountains, and enjoy birdwatching. Winters are rather mild with an average temperature of 16C, so you are most likely not going to use that heavy winter coat. Unless of course you are a ski lover and head for the mountain of Troodos just about 90 minutes drive from Paphos.
With a rich historic background, Cyprus has developed an interesting mix of Eastern and European character which is quite unique. Over the last decade it has become a firm favourite amongst UK holidaymakers and retirees whereas during the last 2 years the Russian tourists have shown a great interest to the island's luxury seaside resorts and villas. With an average flying time of 3 hours from most European countries, Cyprus is a very popular place to enjoy the sunshine almost all year round!
Cyprus is still a very affordable destination and you will never be short of something to do here. It is perhaps one of the best choices for a lifetime vacation, retirement, or a holiday home. Thousands of tourists are headed to the island each year to enjoy the sunshine, the warm beaches and the hospitality of its people. Young clubbers flock to Ayia Napa, whereas families and couples prefer resorts such as Protaras, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos.
Many of them find Cyprus as their dream destination and take the decision to retire here or invest in the booming real estate industry of the island.
